For legal and court work

Legal and court work, from the booking to the signed declaration

Book interpreters for hearings, conferences and police interviews with the references the matter needs, produce translator's declarations in the court's own format with the translation, and keep a record of remote sessions, for agencies that work with courts, solicitors and law firms.

In short

Legal work is exact about paperwork. A translation for court needs a translator's declaration in the format that court expects - a statement of truth for the courts of England and Wales, a declaration under 28 U.S.C. 1746 with the case number in the United States - and an interpreter booking needs the matter reference, the right time zone and sometimes two interpreters. LinguisTriks produces the declaration in the court's format from editable templates, one copy in each language, books interpreters with the details a fee earner's assistant will ask about, and keeps the record of remote sessions with the booking.

Court and police bookings

Hearings, conferences and interviews booked with the right details

Every booking carries the client's reference and your own custom fields, so a matter or case number is on the booking, the timesheet and the report. Bookings keep their own time zone, a long hearing can have two interpreters, and an out-of-hours police interview is offered to your shortlist by text and email in one go, accepted with one tap from a phone.

  • Matter or case reference on every booking
  • Two interpreters for long hearings
  • Offers by text and email at any hour, accepted with one tap
  • Cancel with or without charges, and decide whether the interpreter is paid

Declarations

Translator's declarations in the court's format

Mark a translation project as court work, choose the court's country, and the translator's declaration is produced in that court's format from editable templates: a statement of truth under the Civil Procedure Rules for England and Wales, a declaration under 28 U.S.C. 1746 with the case number for the United States, and a general form elsewhere. One copy in the source language and one in the target language go to the linguist with the job, and the signed copy comes back into the project's files.

  • Editable templates per court country
  • A copy in each language
  • Sent to the linguist with the job; the signed copy uploaded back
  • Party names and references carried through from the project

Certified translations

Certificates, stamps and postal packs

Certificates and declarations are generated from your own templates with your signature and stamp. The certificate, the translation and the source are merged into one PDF ready to print or post, and the client's portal shows the source files and the finished translation only, never an AI draft or a linguist's paperwork.

  • Your own certificate wording, signature and stamp
  • Certificate, translation and source in one PDF
  • Clients see finished files only
  • AI first drafts reviewed by your linguist, never shown to clients

The record

Recordings and transcripts of remote sessions

Remote sessions you run - a solicitor's conference with a client and an interpreter, for example - take place in your own meeting rooms or in Microsoft Teams, with a personal link for each person and a waiting room. Where your agency allows it, the session is recorded and kept with the booking for as long as your retention setting says, and a live transcript names each speaker. Recording a court hearing is a matter for the court, not the software.

  • Your own meeting rooms or Microsoft Teams
  • Recording where your agency allows it, kept with the booking
  • Live transcripts with each speaker named
  • Retention period set by your agency

Law-firm clients

A portal for fee earners and their assistants

Each client contact gets a secure portal to request interpreters and translations, follow their jobs, accept quotes, order a translation at a fixed price and pay invoices online. Every action is recorded in the client's history, and invoices can carry a matter reference per job.

  • Requests, status and invoices in one portal
  • Quotes accepted or paid online
  • A matter reference on each job and invoice line
  • Every portal action in the client's history

Confidentiality

Who sees what

Each agency has its own database. Staff roles decide what each person may open, change and see, including the option to see only their own clients and jobs; sign-ins, actions and field-level changes are logged; linguists see only their own work; and clients see their own files and nothing else.

  • A separate database for each agency
  • Staff roles, with an 'only their own' option
  • Sign-ins, actions and changes logged
  • Linguists and clients see only their own work

Questions

Legal and court work, answered

Can it produce a statement of truth for the courts of England and Wales?

Yes. A project marked as court work with England and Wales as the court's country gets a translator's declaration in the Civil Procedure Rules format, including the statement of truth, from a template your agency can edit. One copy is produced in each language, the linguist signs it, and the signed copy is kept with the project.

What about US courts?

Choose the United States as the court's country and the declaration follows 28 U.S.C. 1746, with the case number and the penalty-of-perjury wording. Other countries get a general form, and every template can be edited by your agency.

Do we still need the standard certificate?

For court work the court-format declaration replaces the standard declaration, so the linguist is not asked for both. Certified translations outside court work use your usual certificate with your signature and stamp.

Can hearings be recorded?

Whether a court hearing may be recorded is the court's decision. The recordings in LinguisTriks are of remote sessions your agency runs, such as a solicitor's conference with a client and an interpreter, where your agency allows recording; they are kept with the booking for the period you set.

Can we book an interpreter for a police station at night?

Yes. Offer the booking to your shortlist by text and email at any hour; interpreters accept with one tap from a phone, without a password, and the first good answer becomes the confirmed booking.

Who at our agency can see a client's case details?

Whoever their staff role allows. Roles set view or edit rights per part of the portal, can limit a person to their own clients and jobs, and hide prices, rates and bank details from those who don't need them. Sign-ins and changes are logged.

How much does it cost?

LinguisTriks is priced per user per month, with every price on the pricing page and a 30-day free trial that needs no card.
