Custom development
Custom development for translation and interpreting agencies
Connections to the systems you already use, a clean move from XTRF, Plunet or spreadsheets, a website whose quote form feeds your enquiries list, and features built around the way your agency works. Done by the team that builds LinguisTriks.
In short
The LinguisTriks team can connect your portal to other systems, move your records from XTRF, Plunet or spreadsheets, build your agency's website with a quote form that creates enquiries in your portal, and add the features your clients and contracts ask for. Help moving your clients, linguists and rates is part of the onboarding included in every plan.
Integrations
Connect the systems you already use
The common connections are already built in. You switch them on in Settings with your own accounts, so client payments go to your Stripe or PayPal account, linguist payouts go through your own Wise, Airwallex or PayPal account, and invoices sync with your own Xero organisation.
When you need something that isn't on the list, such as a different accounting package, a client's booking or procurement portal, or your CAT tool's server, we can build the connection for you.
Built in
- Microsoft 365 sign-in for your staff
- Microsoft Teams meetings for remote sessions
- Stripe and PayPal for client payments
- Wise, Airwallex and PayPal for linguist payouts
- Xero for invoices, payments and linguist bills
- Twilio for SMS, voice and video
- XLIFF files to and from your CAT tools
Built for you
- Another accounting package
- A client's booking or procurement portal
- Your CAT tool or translation memory server
Data migration
Moving from XTRF, Plunet or spreadsheets
Most agencies arrive with years of records in another system or a folder of spreadsheets. We work from the exports your current system gives you, usually Excel or CSV files, or straight from your spreadsheets. We match the columns, merge duplicates, line up language names and import the result, so your team starts with the clients, linguists and rates it uses every day.
Translation memories come across as TMX or CSV files and glossaries as TBX or CSV. Open jobs are best finished in the old system while new work starts in LinguisTriks. Keep the old system read-only for reference until its last invoices are paid, and there's no big-bang weekend.
Help moving your clients, linguists and rates is part of the onboarding included in every plan.
What moves across
- Clients, companies and contacts
- Linguists with their languages, services and rates
- Translation memories (TMX or CSV) and glossaries (TBX or CSV)
- Quote, invoice, certificate and email templates, set up again in your brand
Finished jobs and old invoices stay in the old system for reference.
Agency websites
A website with the quote form built in
We design and build websites for translation and interpreting agencies, or work with the site you already have. Either way, the quote form posts straight into your portal: the enquiry appears in your Enquiries list with the languages, dates, location and documents the client gave, it's shared out among the coordinators you choose, and your team gets an email at once. Nobody has to re-type a web enquiry.
- A quote form that creates the enquiry, with the files attached
- Web enquiries shared out fairly across the coordinators you pick
- The quote assistant, an optional chat that asks visitors for anything missing
- Links to the client portal, where clients follow their jobs and pay invoices
- Pages for your services and languages that work well on phones
Custom features
Features built around the way you work
A lot of what agencies ask for is already a setting: your own fields on clients, linguists, enquiries, quotes and jobs, your own templates for every document and email, your own workflows, and the report builder. When a client or a contract needs more, we build it: a booking form for one large client, a report in exactly the format a contract asks for, an extra approval step, or an export for a client's system.
Agencies that need their own servers can run LinguisTriks on-premises or in a private cloud on the Enterprise plan, which also includes custom integrations and development.
Usually a setting, not a project
- Custom fields on clients, linguists, enquiries, quotes and jobs
- Your own templates for documents and emails
- Your own workflows
- A report builder with CSV and Excel downloads
Built for you
- A booking form for one large client
- Reports in a contract's own format

Questions
Custom development, answered
Can you move our data from XTRF or Plunet?
Yes. We work from the exports your current system gives you, usually Excel or CSV files, and bring across your clients, contacts and linguists with their languages and rates. Translation memories import from TMX or CSV files and glossaries from TBX or CSV. Open jobs are best finished in the old system while new work starts in LinguisTriks.
Is data migration included in the price?
Help moving your clients, linguists and rates is part of the onboarding included in every plan. If you need more, such as years of job history, tell us what you have and we'll explain what it involves first.
Do we have to replace our website to get the quote form?
No. The quote form and the quote assistant can be added to the website you already have. If you'd like a new website as well, we can design and build it.
What happens when someone fills in the quote form?
An enquiry is created in your Enquiries list with the languages, dates and documents the client gave. It's assigned to one of the coordinators you've chosen for web enquiries, and your team gets an email straight away.
Can LinguisTriks connect to our accounting software?
Xero is built in: client invoices, payments and linguist bills sync with your own Xero organisation. Other accounting packages can be connected as custom work.
What does custom development cost?
It depends on the work. Tell us what you need and we'll explain what it involves and what it costs before anything starts. Custom integrations and development are included in the Enterprise plan.
Who does the work?
The team that builds and supports LinguisTriks, so custom work is done by people who know the system.
